What is a Default Address (or catch all)?
At 040 Hosting you have a Default Address, or catch-all, which is used to capture all mail sent to addresses that do not exist on your domain. This address can be very useful when you have complex email addresses. For example, if your email address is mike.jones@domain.com and someone sends a message to mik.ejones@domain.com, in most cases, you will never get this mail. However, if you have a default address set up, the mail will be sent to that address and the person who watches the default address account can notify mike.jones@domain.com. Please note that the default address must be an actual email account or a forwarder.
However a catch all will bring you tons of spam and therefor also bring up the server load as well. We advise all our users to disable this function, you can disable it by two easy steps written down below.
How to disable the catch-all account in two easy steps ?
Log in to your cPanel: http://www.yourdomain.tld/cpanel and follow the two screen-shots, that is all you need to do, of course you may also ask our technical support staff to do it for you, in that case create a ticket at http://www.040support.nl
