 040 Hosting uses Ksplice Uptrack to keep their servers up to date with the latest kernel updates; by utilizing Ksplice Uptrack services on our 040 Hosting Shared, 040 Hosting Semi-Dedicated and 040 Hosting Reseller services we do not need to rebooted at each kernel update; but we will be using this new technology to give our users the most uptime and the least inconvience possible while keeping our servers as much up to date as possible.
About Ksplice technology
Today, every mainstream operating system requires regular reboots in order to be up to date and secure. Since reboots cause downtime and disruption, people are forced into the uncomfortable dilemma of choosing between security and convenience.
Any delay in patching software problems—even a delay of just a few days to arrange for downtime—can have serious consequences. Within just six days after the announcement of the Linux sys_prctl vulnerability, many servers had been compromised, including an important server for the Debian distribution.

Our datacenter partner in the US (Dallas, Washington DC and Seattle) has announced today that they passed the SAS 70 Type II audit.
Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70: Service Organizations, commonly abbreviated as SAS 70, is an auditing statement issued by the Auditing Standards Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), officially titled “Reports on the Processing of Transactions by Service Organizations”. SAS 70 defines the professional standards used by a service auditor to assess the internal controls of a service organization and issue a service auditor’s report. Service organizations are typically entities that provide outsourcing services that impact the control environment of their customers. Examples of service organizations are insurance and medical claims processors, trust companies, hosted data centers, application service providers (ASPs), managed security providers, credit processing organizations and clearinghouses.
