In 1989, PCS-BBS was established in Eindhoven, providing a platform for communication and data exchange before the internet was publicly available. PCS-BBS was also connected with Fidonet, enabling international communication through a global network of bulletin board systems. Using an ingenious system of connecting to universities with international mail exchanges, we were already linked to a global network. By 1994, we connected to the nascent World Wide Web via the Digital City in Amsterdam (DDS), marking our first hook into the internet.

In 1996 (29 years ago), we began building and hosting websites for clients in the Netherlands, helping them establish their online presence during the early days of the web. However, it wasn’t until 2006 that 040Hosting officially emerged as a dedicated international hosting provider, offering comprehensive hosting solutions to meet the growing demands of the digital world.

The digital ecosystem was still evolving, and this gave us a unique opportunity to help shape the hosting industry during its early days.
